 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS //

Type of Work Being Sought
Le Mois de la Photo is seeking works that have not been taken by someone behind the camera looking through the viewfinder, but works that in someway utilize the automatic possibilities of the camera when taking photographs and sometimes without the involvement of a human.

The work might reference remote control, sense detectors, CCTV, webcams and the Web. This might be by using computers, robots, drones as well as the camera. The finished pieces might be wall based, installations, video or web based projects, but we shall give priority to photographic based work.

We are looking for work that challenges our understanding of the relationship between the photographer and the photograph and between technology and the human.

How to send your submission

Submissions must sent by email only (in English or French) according to the instructions to soumission2013@moisdelaphoto.com no later than November 21, 2011.

NEW GUEST CURATOR // CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
British independent curator, Paul Wombell for the 13th presentation of its biennale of contemporary photography that will take place in September 2013. For Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal 2013, Paul Wombell has proposed the theme Drone: The Automated Image around which all the exhibitions, the publication, the colloquium and other activities will be organized.

“Drones extend the capabilities of the body in the act of looking. Drones are the robots of seeing. Over the last 40 years the camera has taken on some of the same characteristics of the drone even to the extent that the camera now as a life of its own and functions more like a computer. Drone: The Automated Image will be the first project to chart the changing relationship between the camera and the human body. It will look at how photographers and artists are choosing to use the automatic devices of the camera in its many different forms in the production of [their] work,” according to Paul Wombell, guest curator for Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal 2013.

More complete information is available on their website as well as a pdf with all pertinent information for submissions.
